I'm 43 years old. I've worked in the local TV news, digital whatever you want to call it industry for 23 years. The other day, while catching myself in that familiar thought loop of: 'What do you really want to be when you grow up?'

I was on a 14-hour road trip, so I had a lot of time to carelessly throw myself onto that hamster wheel. a random thought flashed into my brain like the closest lightning strike you've ever felt.

The reality is, I've been asking the wrong question all these years. It's not "What do you want to be when you grow up?" it's instead:

"HOW do you want to be when you grow up?"

Isn't that question more directed at our humanity? And what does it mean to be human? For me, it was an instant revelation.

So, HOW do I want to be?

-Just to name a few...

The fun part! I don't have to wait until I grow up. I can work on those now! I can even add and subtract as we go along, because that's life! That's LIFE! And it's a wonderful thing.

Any career, any job, any opportunity that helps me get better at a majority of these things is "WHAT" I want to be when I grow up! ❤️
